I’m going to be honest. I love ordinals inscriptions! The very idea 💡 of being able to inscribe data on digital gold aka bitcoin is amazing.
Since I was a kid I collected ancient coins and I always enjoy studying the inscriptions on the coins. It’s called numismatics.
When bitcoin was invented, Satoshi Nakamoto had no idea that one day numismatics was coming to bitcoin.
Last year a degen programmer named Casey Rodamor figured out a way to allow anyone to inscribe data immutably onto the lowest unit of a bitcoin called a satoshi.
I was among the early adopters of the ordinals theory and I inscribed a lot of art, poetry, jpegs etc.
Blockspace is limited on bitcoin, so the cost of inscribing anything on the bitcoin is expensive.
But I am a #freespeech maxi and the idea of inscribing data that can’t be censored or deleted by any central authority is amazing.
Plus the very idea of owning the actual inscription is superior, unlike regular smart contractvNFTs that simply point to data stored elsewhere on some centralized server.
Ordinals inscriptions are the actual jpeg or whatever data. It’s the real deal. That’s why ordinals are true digital collectibles.
I have a particular soft spot for the first sub 100 000 inscriptions. No doubt these are historical inscriptions and I will be writing more about them in the coming weeks. Owning them is owning a piece of digital history.
The first inscription #1 is a skull designed by Casey Rodamor. Inscription #2 is a dickbutt cartoon 😆 lol.
Fast forward more than 12 months later, the ordinals ecosystem has grown so much with more than 60 million inscriptions inscribed on bitcoin.
We even have specialized inscriptions explorers like ordiscan.com and others.
And there are now so many ordinals collections to choose from and these collections are available on market places like magic eden, okx wallet, ordinals wallet and more.
I remember inscribing something called Bitmap in the autumn of last year after reading about the bitmap theory by an anonymous person called Bitoshi Blockamoto.
Basically the idea is that folks can now claim ownership of every bitcoin block and that this is a non arbitrary building block for a bitcoin based metaverse.
After the bitmap blockout, I took a break from ordinals for a while and focused on learning the 🎷 sax. Several months passed and one day I decided to check back on ordinals. I was blown away!
Bitmap was now trading at above $200 bucks at the time of writing. I never saw this coming. At that very moment I discovered these high quality svg frogs 🐸 and some of them were wearing Bitmap t-shirts!
I instantly fell in love with the collection. I decided to study it more carefully and realized that embedded in the entire collection is hidden symbolic messages about the history of ordinals and bitcoin.
I acquired many ThePepes with the bitmap t-shirt traits in the beginning because I think those frogs are super cool.
At some point I discovered that there is a female ThePepes too hidden in the collection. Pepe is a male frog meme from the internet. So to have a female Pepe in ThePepes collection was so much fun.
I realized that there were not many of them. So I began collecting any I could find and afford.
I found one wearing a bitmap tshirt and I think there are less than 20 in the entire 10k collection.
Today on Sunday, March 3, 2024 I accidentally acquired an extremely rar3 female ThePepes with a halo and wearing a bitcoin shroom tshirt and holding a grail. There are only 2 such ThePepes in the entire collection! I only realized the fact after I impulsively bought the frog 😆.

All this makes me realize that there are many hidden rare ordinals inscriptions. Folks are too busy focusing on new collections that are coming out, but for me personally I want to find historical inscriptions and rare inscriptions embedded in collections.
Of course I will only collect what I personally like and what I can afford.
I will be writing about my collection and the journey and stories behind my decisions to collect particular inscriptions.
This is so much fun 😁
Yours truly
